Joan Viola Campbell

January 18, 1928 - February 8, 2012

Joan Viola Campbell, 84, of Mooresville, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.
She was born January 18, 1928 in Ozone Park, New York and was a daughter of the late George Doherty and Sarah Hemmer. Mrs. Campbell was a devoted wife, mother and loving grandmother. She moved to Mooresville four years ago from Massapequa, NY and was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church, Mooresville. For over thirty years, Mrs. Campbell positively affected the lives of hundreds of students in her role as a High School Guidance Counselor.
Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by sister, Margaret McCormick.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Campbell of 52 years and children; Mary Frances Toomey (Christopher), Mark J. Campbell, Peter J. Campbell (Denise), and Francis P. Campbell (Deborah); brother, George Doherty and twelve grandchildren.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, February 11, 2012, at St. Therese Catholic Church, Mooresville. The family will receive friends at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home on Friday, February 10, 2012 from 6-8 PM.
