Jack Overcash
October 1, 1933 - October 22, 2011
Mr. Jack Overcash, 78, of Charlotte Hwy, Mooresville, entered the Church Triumphant and joined his Precious Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 22, 2011. Jack’s life was one of dedication to others. He loved his family, his friends, his employees, those in need and his church. He lived a life of taking care of others first. This was his life’s testimony.
Jack spent four years serving his country proudly in the US Air Force. He came back to Mooresville and established his own electrical company, Overcash Electric Company. The company has been based in the Mooresville area for the past 50 years. Jack strived to serve his customers with honesty and humility.
He has been a lifetime member of Vanderburg United Methodist Church, where he served on the Building Committee and Compassion Fund. Jack worshiped his God quietly and faithfully with all his spirit, heart and faithful attendance.
Jack’s greatest enjoyment was his family, traveling throughout many foreign parts of the world.
He is survived by his wife, Emily Eudy Overcash, whom he married June 15, 1986; daughters, Lorie Overcash, of Statesville, Jacquelyn Overcash, of Pacific Palisades, CA, Elizabeth O. Settlemyre and husband, Joe, of Mooresville, and Jennifer O. Meadows and husband, Mitch, of Mooresville; step-children, Lisa Dennis and husband, Bill, of Beaufort, SC, and Mark Rummage and wife, Stacy, of Mooresville; sisters, Shelby Alexander and husband, Grady, of Charlotte, and Patty Echard, of Taylorsville; grandchildren, Dylan, Jack and Liam Palladino, Jared Settlemyre, and Amber and Zachary Meadows; and step-grandchildren, Wesley Mowrer and Erin Rummage.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
Jack had Alzheimer’s for seven years – His testimony through it all – Though the mountains were steep, now the race is won! Well Done! Dear faithful one!
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to all of Jack’s caregivers for their love, support and compassion during his illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at Vanderburg United Methodist Church, Mooresville. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 PM, Monday, October 24, 2011, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville.
