Harold Monroe Elliott
January 16, 1948 - February 21, 2012
Harold Monroe Elliott, 64, passed away surrounded by those who loved him deeply on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 10:25 pm at his home in Mooresville, NC. Harold was diagnosed in 2009 with frontal temporal dementia.
He was born on January 16, 1948 to the late Roy and Ruby Elliott in Statesville, NC. On August 29, 1981 he married Brenda Kay Laws of Kannapolis. He was the father of three sons Scott, Chad and Jesse and one daughter “SCRAPPY”. Harold received his education at Central School, in Statesville, NC and at the University of St. Louis. He was a NASCAR engine builder from 1974 to 1990, working for Cale Yarborough, Tim Richmond, Darrel Waltrip and Rusty Wallace. After leaving NASCAR he began H.M. Elliott Custom Precision Coating in February of 1993.
He is survived by his wife Brenda Elliott; his three sons Scott, Chad and Jesse Elliott; three grandchildren Riley, London and Matthew Elliott; brothers Everett, Charles, Benny, Kutteh and two sisters, Shirley and Vallie. He is preceded in death by one sister, Evie, and one brother Ervin.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 23 at 6:00pm at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, 494 E. Plaza Drive, Mooresville, NC. Funeral services will be on Friday, February 24 at 2:00pm in the Cavin-Cook Chapel. Burial immediately following the service at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove, NC.
