Frances "Fran" Anderson Davis

Frances A. "Fran" Davis died on November 22, 2011, at the Churchill Senior Living community in Mooresville.
Fran was born in Rockford, IL, on October 27, 1926, of the late Lloyd S. and Etta B. Empie Anderson.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Earl; son Philip of Shanghai, China; son Stephen and wife Elisabeth of Cornelius; daughter Elizabeth and husband Gilbert Rossi of Lawrenceville, NJ; 9 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
She was a graduate of Rockford West High School, Rockford, IL, and Cornell College of Iowa. She earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Missouri, St. Louis, and an Ed.D. in early childhood education from Rutgers University. Fran taught preschool through graduate school, served as a consultant for Head Start Centers and the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, and conducted workshops for teachers at Department of Defense schools in Germany as well as at schools in Japan, Thailand, England, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. She authored three books and served for many years as the Regional Advisor for the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, Carolinas.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 29, from 6:30-8:30 PM at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on December 3 at University Presbyterian Church in Chapel Hill, NC.
