Clarence Barney Sperry

June 19, 1928 - December 21, 2011

Clarence Barney “C. B.” Sperry, 83, of Browns Summit, NC, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at Cone Hospital, Greensboro. Born June 19, 1928, in Greenwood, SC, he was a son of the late Claude Jackson and Agnes Davis Sperry. Mr. Sperry was a 1950 graduate of Clemson A & M where he received a degree in Textile Engineering. He went on to receive a Masters Degree in Business from the University of Michigan. Mr. Sperry was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Jackson Sperry. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Griffith Sperry, whom he married December 31, 1950; children, John Griffith “Griff” Sperry and wife, Lucretia, of Mooresville, and Lynn Sperry Gilberto and husband, John, of Tampa, FL; brother, Claude Jackson Sperry, Jr. of New Orleans; grandchildren, Amber Sperry Somner, John Griffith Sperry, Jr., Joe, Shelby, Emily and Brad Gilberto; and great granddaughter, Kyra Elizabeth Somner. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, December 24, 2011, at Mimosa Cemetery, Davidson, with his son, John Griffith Sperry officiating.
