Charles Alexander Denson, Jr.
February 3, 1941 - February 7, 2012
Charles A. “Yogi” Denson, Jr., 71, of Mooresville, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.
He was born on February 3, 1941 in Rutherfordton, to the late Charles A. Denson, Sr. and Johnnie Player Denson. Mr. Denson was a graduate of NC State University, where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He served in the Army Reserves and retired from Reeves Brothers and from Engineered Sintered in Troutman. He was an active member in the Jaycees and the Gideons. He was an Eagle Scout, member of the Order of the Arrow, and received the Honored Wood Badge for Adult Leadership. He was a Scout Master of Troop 166 and a Camp Counselor at Piedmont Boy Scout Camp. He was also a member of Central United Methodist Church in Mooresville, where he was a member of the Willing Workers Class.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia G. Denson; children, Patricia Church and husband, Keith, Scott Denson; sister, Betsy Deal and husband, Earl; and grandchildren, Anne, John and James Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 9 at Central United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Sherrill officiating. The body will lie in state beginning at 10:00 AM at the church. The family will receive friends at a reception in the fellowship hall immediately following the service. Burial will take place at 4:00 PM at Glenwood Memorial Park with Rev. Randy Sherrill and Rev. Keith Church officiating.
