Carolyn McLaurin Current

Carolyn McLaurin Current, age 79, died November 23, 2011 at the Serenity House in Mooresville, NC. Mrs. Current, daughter of the late Daniel Archie McLaurin and Grace Nash McLaurin, was born December 19, 1931 in Cabarrus County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Steele Current, who passed away November 15, 2001. They were married June 22, 1957, and lived their married life in Cleveland, NC. After his death, she moved to Mooresville to be near other members of her family. Mr. Current was a lifetime member of Third Creek Presbyterian Church in Cleveland which Mrs. Current joined when they married. Both were active in the work of the church and community life and have left behind many friends in the area. Preceding her in death in addition to her husband and parents were brothers Barry Eugene McLaurin and wife Edna D. McLaurin, Daniel Archie McLaurin, Jr., MD and wife, Mary Templeton McLaurin, Lawrence Ernest McLaurin and wife, Charlene Harwell McLaurin, and Joe Nash McLaurin, who died in childhood. The Daniel Archie McLaurin family made their home in Mooresville for a number of years. Mr. McLaurin was a well known building contractor; they were active members of Central Methodist Church and attended local schools. Survivors include daughter, Lynne R. Miller of Mooresville, two grandchildren, Bradley C. Miller, a Captain in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Benning, GA and Daniel A. Miller of Philadelphia, PA. One brother, Jimmy D. McLaurin and his wife, Elizabeth of Clayton, NC also survive. Mrs. Current was a graduate of Central High School in Mooresville, Class of 1951, and attended Charlotte and Salisbury business colleges as well as other work related courses throughout her career. She was employed by American Moistening Company, Grinnell Corporation and Tyco Industries of Cleveland as secretary to the plant manager for some 35 years, retiring due to health reasons in 1991. Services will be held at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville on November 26, 2011 at 11:30 AM. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Immediately following the funeral service, interment will be at Third Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Cleveland, NC with brief graveside rites.
