Billy Gene Parker, Sr.

May 18, 1933 - August 29, 2011

Heaven rejoices at the homecoming of Billy Gene Parker, Sr. as he passed away on Monday, August 29, 2011.
He was born on May 18, 1933 in Spring Creek, NC, to the late James Earl and Lillian Blankenship Parker. He was a veteran serving in the US Navy. Bill was retired from Duke Energy after 14 years of service. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Mooresville. Bill leaves a legacy of love for God, for family, and for life. Though he will be missed so much, his family is joyful that Bill is now united with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Betty Lou Atwell.
Bill is survived by his wife of 38 years, Frances Parker; children, Durand Parker Koch, Billy Gene Parker, Jr., Larry Parker, Bobby Dean Parker, Lori Joyner, Ken Karriker; brother, Donald Eugene Parker; thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A private family Committal Service with full military honors will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, September 1 at Salisbury National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 PM at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Hal D. Greene and Rev. Bill Saylor officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:30-8:30 PM at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.
