My prayers are with the family at this time. I had the honor and pleasure of knowing Bill when I was in the pilot scheduling depatrment with Piedmont Airlines. He was always a gentleman, easy to work with and loved by all the flight crews. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. God be with you and give you peace during this time. Cherish the memories, and I know there are many good ones.
1974 Roanoke was my first base assignment I had as a new hire pilot. With all the challenges of your first career job and new aircraft, Bill was the best example of a Chief Pilot, Line Pilot, and mentor to all the new pilots at his base. Bill soon became the model pilot that I would try to achieve .
I am so very sorry for your loss, and I will be forever grateful for knowing Capt. Bill Durbin .
