Guest Book for Captain William Harvey Durbin

Buddy Bowen

We were so sad at the news of Bill.He was the finest pilot that I have ever flew with.
Not only were the Durbin's our neighbor in Blue Ridge,Va,but Bill helped me get hired at Piedmont Airlines.
Bill has always been with me on every flight I take, since he taught me so much.I am a much better pilot with all that knowledge he shared, not only with me,but everyone who ever flew with him.

I will miss my friend, Captain W.H."Bill Durbin"

How sad to hear of his passing. We all have fond memories of Durbin, the Turbine, and he was admired by all.
I met him when I first began my career on the YS11 in Roanoke, Va in 1978, and flew with him.
Always the gentleman. Those were the days when we were all part of the Piedmont family.
Our prayers are with you all during this time, and he has finally reached his final journey.

1974 Roanoke was my first base assignment I had as a new hire pilot.  With all the challenges of your first career job and new aircraft,  Bill was the best example of a Chief Pilot, Line Pilot, and mentor to all the new pilots at his base.  Bill soon became the model pilot that I would try to achieve .

I am so very sorry for your loss, and I will be forever grateful for knowing  Capt. Bill Durbin .
