What is embalming?
Embalming is the process of chemically treating the deceased human body to reduce the presence and growth of microorganisms, reduce organic decomposition and restore an acceptable physical appearance.

Is embalming required by law?
Except in certain cases, embalming is not required by law. Embalming is necessary if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as a funeral service or visitation with a viewing.

Is a burial vault (outer burial container) required by law?
North Carolina Law does not require a vault (outer burial container); however, most cemeteries require either a grave liner or a burial vault. In most areas of the country, state and local laws do not require that you buy a container to surround the casket in the grave.

If I choose cremation, is it possible to have a viewing and funeral service?
There are may options available for cremation services. Many families choose to have an open casket with a public viewing and a funeral service before the actual cremation takes place.

How do I plan my funeral or cremation in advance?
You can either make an appointment with your local Funeral Director, or if you do not wish to speak to someone in person, you can request information on services and pricing to be sent to your home. Advance Funeral Planning provides peace of mind for you your family.

Is my advance funeral plan transferable?
Yes. Many people move to another town or simply change their preference of funeral homes. North Carolina law allows for advance funeral plans to transfer from one funeral home to another.

What are my payment options when making funeral or cremation arrangements?
Payment is due at the time when final arrangements are made. We accept cash, personal checks, major credit cards, assignment of a verified life insurance policy(s), advance funded funeral plans or bank financing. If the funds are not available at that time, the funeral home will determine if an extension of credit will be made for a period no longer than 30 days.

What are your hours of operation?
We are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We are always open when we have a funeral service and visitation. Our regular business hours seven days a week are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. We do recommend that you please call our funeral home and let us know if you are coming in to plan an at-need or pre-need funeral or cremation. This will allow us to have our staff personally available to serve you and your family.
